Yuki Kajiura

Responsible for the soundtracks of Noir, .hack//SIGN, Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, Le Portrait De La Petit Cossette, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and many more. Her music has an otherworldly, somewhat tragic feeling to it.

Kow Otani

Another prolific composer for Japanese animation, I enjoy the mysterious yet familiar instrumentals of the Shadow of the Colossus and Haibane Renmei soundtracks in particular. Evoking the feelings of hope amidst loss, Kow captures the essence of these titles with grace.

Yoko Kanno

I'm aware of the controversy surrounding her lifting melodies from other artists, but I can't help but adore her mixes regardless. Her work on Escaflowne and Wolf's Rain is beyond beautiful, and Ghost in the Shell iconic.

Nier

The combined efforts of Keiichi Okabe, Kakeru Ishihama, Keigo Hoashi, and Takafumi Nishimura. The soundtracks for both games are among my absolute favorites.

Ar Tonelico

I'll admit I've never played the games, but the OST's are a guilty pleasure of mine.

Utada Hikaru

A very long time ago a friend I made on neopets sent me a CD in the mail, upon which she had burned Utada Hikaru's Single Collection Vol. 1. I listened to it countless times. Thank-you, Madeline.
